Known as the Khiladi of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar has done umpteen number of action films throughout his career, but this is different. Must have heard Super Man, Bat-Man and He-Man, Now it’s PAD-Man. Strangely, however, he has never played a superhero in any of his films. But it seems like his wife Twinkle Khanna has finally brought out the superhero in him with “PadMan”.
The film is based on Twinkle Khanna’s book, The Legend Of Lakshmi Prasad, which is inspired from the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham. Tamil Nadu-based social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham, revolutionised the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India by creating a low-cost sanitary napkins machine.
Who would’ve thought a superhero could step out in a simple white kurta pyjama? Well, Akshay has proven that you don’t require the cape to be a superhero. In a recent poster from the film, Akshay is seen sporting a humble look, standing on a heap of raw cotton. The caption in the background reads, “Superhero hai yeh pagla”.
‘PadMan’ is produced by Twinkle Khanna and directed by R. Balki and features Akshay Kumar as Lakshmikant Chauhan, Sonam Kapoor as Rhea and Radhika Apte as Gayatri in lead roles. Amitabh Bachchan can also be seen in a Cameo role.
The film is set to release in India on Republic Day, i.e: January 26th, 2018. Set a reminder on your phones to pre-book your tickets for the day or else you ain’t getting seat for sure.
