World No 1 Tai Tzu Ying is finally defeated by PV Sindhu in Premier Badminton League after a year. Win over a 2-1 scoring 15-11, 10-15, 15-12 leading Chennai Smashers against Ahmedabad Smash Masters at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on Saturday.

Back in Rio Olympics Tai Tzu lost against Sindhu for the quarters. Tai Tzu had ever since shown a consistent win and had won all the tournaments she played in 2017 including the Hong Kong Open where she had dashed Sindhu’s dream in the final. PV Sindhu avenged her on Saturday pulling off a stunning comeback win in the first game. The game got so interesting that Carolina Marin a rival contender of the Indian could not stop herself to make a video of the extravagant play.

The ball  was on Tai Tzu’s court with a lead on the first half of the game but Sindhu managed to collect some points off Tai Tzu’s errors after the break. She drew level with a forehand cross court smash from the baseline and from then there was no stopping the Olympic silver medallist. Even after winning a 26 shot rally with a forehand winner, Tai Tzu could not contain her opponent and the Indian won the game to thunderous applause from the crowd.

Tai Tzu cameback in the second game and went into the break with a slender lead. Sindhu losing her control committed two unforced errors and the match went into a deciding game with a 1-1.

The Indian put up a fight and collected two early points but Tai Tzu rattled Sindhu with her impossible cross court backhand shots leading in the 3rd match with 4-3 . Sindhu din’t give up and did her best to retrieve at the break Tai she was leading with 8-6 lead. the match went to a tie when Tai restored parity at 12-12 with a backhand shot down the line on Sindhu’s body.  The crowd was in ecstasy and Sindh managed two back-to-back  score with Tai finally facing a  defeated by  15-12.
