The Eight serial explosions that took place in the cities of Colombo, Negombo and Batticaloa in Sri Lanka is reported with loss of more than 290 people and hundreds are injured. The deadly blasts in Sri Lanka on Sunday is said to involve six suicide bombers.
Less than 10% of the country’s total population, Sri Lanka’s minority Christian community appeares to be the main target of the attacks.
Grief and condolences is being expressed worldwide. The FBI and Interpol are among the global agencies who are stepping in to assist the investigation. Police have arrested 24 people in connection with the attacks.
Sri Lankan people are off the streets under an emergency island-wide curfew. Tuesday was observed as a national day of mourning .
